Also, to clarify, the "people of talent" framework is underpinned by racism. So maybe it's worth having a conversation about that too rather than being like "see, he wasn't OVERTLY racist!"

To explain: 'talent' is a subjective & meaningless metric to determine whether or not someone should come to a country. It's rhetoric used to justify harsher immigration systems which disproportionately affect people of colour. Google 'the hostile environment' for more info.
