Yep. The reason they misinterpreted it is because they lifted - pretty much word for word - the definition of “shitposting” from Wikipedia. Which is the peak boomer place to look for clarity and definitions on internet subculture

Good job Sarah, thanks for sharing this. Unfortunately, BBC have shown themselves to be lacking in self awareness and self reflection lately. They are more interested in the clicks rather than the cost or context. BBC have allowed too many shitposts on their programmes of late.
