If the BBC hadn't redefined "trolling" to mean "online abuse" they'd already have a word to describe those campaign ads that fit perfectly. But the damage is done, so now they're shifting all the other terms around to fit.

100%. Also I suspect online abuse legislation has only been implemented since increasingly the targets of abuse has been journalists & politicians. Obviously they don't deserve online abuse but teenage suicides linked to cyberbullying have happened since chat rooms have existed
