It’s very clear that whoever briefed this (if it isn’t just LK’s own analysis) had never seen the term shitposting before that Tory party graphic with comic sans and neon text and then just assumed they knew all there was to know about it

If the BBC hadn't redefined "trolling" to mean "online abuse" they'd already have a word to describe those campaign ads that fit perfectly. But the damage is done, so now they're shifting all the other terms around to fit.
100%. Also I suspect online abuse legislation has only been implemented since increasingly the targets of abuse has been journalists & politicians. Obviously they don't deserve online abuse but teenage suicides linked to cyberbullying have happened since chat rooms have existed
