      Every time someone publishes a digital culture piece about niche Facebook groups I wonder if I pitch things in the same vein but realistically all that I've learned from being a member of 762 niche groups is that most people are racist

      I've tweeted and deleted this like six times bc I'm trying to find the least salty way to say it but I do think that white people need to work with non-white editors on pieces like this bc a conclusion that is essentially "Racism is bad imo" is like very weird among other thingspic.twitter.com/5nO9pFsv0y

      Hey I just got linked this thread (I’m the author) and I really appreciate this criticism/feedback. I think I wanted to write about these kinds of groups specifically because they are often framed as wholesome/pure when they’re obviously quite vile and totally agree that like,

      all of FB is white boomers being racist. I’m trying to write more digital culture pieces like this and obviously have missed the mark so would really like to talk to you about any other thoughts you have if you can be bothered to chat via DM! Regardless I do appreciate this.

      Hey Sarah! I appreciate the message—I hadn’t QTed as I didn't want it to come off as a personal attack, but more a comment on how race is treated in digital culture reporting. Currently on deadline, but thanks for the clarification and will reach out directly in the future!
