      What is the hardback/paperback nonfiction sales ratio like? Is it similar to fiction or does nonfiction sell better (or worse) in paperback?

      depends a bit on genre etc. but by and large nf sells more hardbacks than fiction does: that is, they still both sell mostly PBs, but with fiction it's closer to parity. with a book like this...2:1 PB/HB might be plausible? But hard to say

      Thanks! It's one of those things where I was thinking "Well obviously non-fiction sells more paperbacks" and then a minute later I'd think "Actually obviously non-fiction sells more hardbacks"

      yeah, it's an odd one. it's basically to do with the fact that nf has less shelf-life: people are more likely to buy nf in its first year or two of publication, fiction hangs around longer
