a thing that apparently happens when you're a female journalist online: men DM and/or email you links to things they've written! entirely unsolicited! I've got about four men who send me all their blog posts, never interacted with any of them, yet they carry on

I once had a younger grad student attend an event with me, not say hello and then e-mail after asking for my feedback on something—I felt quite bad for him as the "rules" of asking for help can be confusing but equally, please at least say hi first!
