Doing due diligence... From a search of reddit I get 12 hits, 10 of them are people mocking the other 2 which date back a year. This looks less like something "beginning to thrive" and more like someone who was short on ideas for an article looking for some some easy targets.
almost no one refers to it as "the dog pill" and you have to spend weeks and months keeping your eyes peeled to find posts of girls with dogs and people referencing it without using the phrase. but yes, you who has done a quick reddit search is much more diligent than me!
If you have to spend "weeks and month" to find a handful of posts that still smells like a desperate search to find something novel to point people to laugh at. You can find "oh no! my wife and my best friend!" references/comics going back to the 80's and further.
