But it wasn’t a debate. The writer said “old people are lonely and the bbc can’t really afford to pay for this, the government should do something” to which the editor said “I guess you don’t care about young people”. That’s not debate? It’s a classic case of a failure to debate.

Well her point was a bit more nuanced: that young people face issues as great or greater than elderly people. It was expressed sarcastically because that’s what people do on twitter for retweets, so fair enough taking exception to that. Still, age/gender/followers not relevant
