No, they're not, but given that a growing group of pensioners get a disproportionate amount of government attention and resources, regardless of need, it seems narrow-minded and irresponsible to spend a whole article fixating on TV licences.

Yeah but the govt is saying they won’t pay. And the BBC paying would mean potentially cutting funding to programmes that...do highlight these issues? Seriously, going to town on a young writer is really awful to do when you’re a big name online, I’d consider deleting this.

My granddad does not and never has owned his own home. He lives in a housing trust house and receives pension credit. It’ll be comfort to him to know other pensioners are rich as he forks out £140 to watch TV.

I appreciate some are very rich and should pay. But we’ve gone from all pensioners are poor (which led to ridiculous universal benefits), they are all rich and don’t care about young people.
