A lotta people on here with ""woke"" politics who have defended/continue to defend Thomas Markle and just a reminder that this is a fucking bad look

My dad showed up at things unannounced while we were estranged, spread lies about my family, and was abusive to my little sister and me for years. We were 9 and 7 when this started happening. People still think HE was wronged.

The power imbalance between parent and child is ENORMOUS, so when the kid is like "I can't take this anymore, I'm cutting you out" people should realise that it has to get VERY FUCKING BAD for a child to have the courage to say that.

I had qualified therapists saying shit like "every girl misses her daddy" when I was 16 and had to go to court-enforced therapy bc my dad pretended he wanted to see me again after 4yrs of silence. It's so much easier to keep contact – trust the kid when they choose the hard way

Anyway sorry for being a downer. The point is that even though Meghan Markle is famous, it doesn't mean that she didn't suffer that power imbalance. It'd be easier to pay him to stfu, but he's done something to make her choose the harder path, to stay away. Fucking remember that
