I had qualified therapists saying shit like "every girl misses her daddy" when I was 16 and had to go to court-enforced therapy bc my dad pretended he wanted to see me again after 4yrs of silence. It's so much easier to keep contact – trust the kid when they choose the hard way

Anyway sorry for being a downer. The point is that even though Meghan Markle is famous, it doesn't mean that she didn't suffer that power imbalance. It'd be easier to pay him to stfu, but he's done something to make her choose the harder path, to stay away. Fucking remember that

wow I just rage-read about this and literally every detail makes me furious bc it's so familiar, the thing with him having "health concerns" reminds me of my father trying to emotionally blackmail me by saying his family as a "history of heart problems" (lol wut)

Fathers get so much sympathy in our culture even when they don't fucking deserve it & there's always the automatic suspicion that the mother or child are difficult or whatever. This idea that the father has the right to be part of their kid's life whatever they do is so horrid
