So it’s technically meant to commemorate when the Pilgrims and the Native Americans had (effectively) a three day ceasefire and a three day harvest festival and all ate together. I’m pretty sure this actually happened but then when that ended it was a racist bloodbath

But what it’s meant to be is a day where you focus on “what you’re thankful for” - and it’s not (in the grand scheme of things) materialistic and a three day break from work where you eat with your friends and fam
