...might bring about reconciliation but what it did do was provide more evidence that a relationship with him was not poss. I didn't invite him to my wedding (despite pressure from my fab Greek-family-is-everything-in-laws) & I have no regrets.

My dad was estranged from his mum for a prolonged period of time, meaning I was estranged from her also, I fully accept that people need to cut family out of their life. I don't agree with this idea people should be forced to reconcile with family.

It’s spot on. At the age of 40 I decided enough was enough with my brother with whom I have never had any positive relationship. It hurt, but I was entitled to look after me and mine. Only regret that it hurts my mum and dad, but they get it.
