I don’t want to be one of those self-righteous people who’s like, “here’s a thread about why this is all bad!” because we all already know that. But today is so distinctly horrific even among all of the horrific days the last two years have brought us
I know that’s fucking obvious, and I don’t even know what I’m trying to accomplish with what I’m posting here, but most of this stuff just makes you feel numb watching it from abroad. But today is a breakthrough of truly feeling the full weight of “the world is going to end”
Everything about this administration has been horrendous, especially the treatment of minorities, immigrants, and women. But I guess in my head i was like “this will destroy lives now but silver lining eventually it will end and the effects will be undone soon(ish)”
But this confirmation will fuck up not just our lives, but like, the next 100 years of people’s lives. And it fucking sucks that that’s not an exaggeration
I’ve been vocally critical of my home country since before I left it six years ago — and I mostly don’t miss it. But today, like that day last January, I’m beyond the point of being critical; just wholeheartedly mourning the place it was before I left.
