doesn't everyone do this? I'd actually like to read a piece on how it's now a Thing - when I go to the restaurant with friends my ageish we've all already pretty much picked what we want before even getting to the restaurant

but then again I personally do it because I'm super picky and have the diet of a fancy seven year old so I check menus of restaurants beforehand to veto them if they only do poncy food

I love it because it’s like a mini equivalent of looking up places you want to go to in a location before you go there on holiday

YES. And to reiterate your previous point - if you have picky eaters in your group/are looking for a certain cuisine and are spoilt for choice, looking at what’s *actually* on the menu can help narrow things down/limit disappointment
