I can't even put my finger on why I hate it so much but I instantly lose all respect for anyone tweeting even remotely like this

tbh i think part of what kills it for me is that it's performatively being ""online talk"" which belittles actually good, intelligent, well-constructed memes and puts them on the same level as obvious, pathetically uninfluential trash like that

and at least the people who do well thought out take downs/memes know that they don't have real world influence. whereas i think people who use covfefe are like "wow, trump must hate this!!!!"

also, like, I feel it's mostly people who don't get the transient nature of memes? the whole point of memes is that they're not meant to just stick around

yeah 100%. i also think that it takes over mainstream discourse and distracts from actual, important talking points that critique a genuinely very bad man (this is also my opinion about the trump balloon)
