I feel like my whole life is this dance of being quiet because people won’t get me, slowly getting comfortable, eventually revealing my true self, then backing off again when once again the real me was Too Much.

Haha thankfully no. I just get extremely carried away when I think I’ve made a friend. It’s been that way since primary school and nothing’s changed. My read of the room is INCREDIBLY hit and miss.
My friends end up being the people who find it funny when I crack a joke that in retrospect was way off base and overly personal.
