Lukewarm take: Stories where the heroes prevent disaster are disappointing. I wanna see what happens when they fail. I wanna see that disaster play out.

I guess what I’m thinking of is that big tragic moment in FF7R, or the first episode of AOT. It’s a massive tragedy, HUGE, but the fate of the world is still to play for. And I care more about the world now because I’ve seen what can happen.
Normalise fictional tragedy lol

Embrassed to admit I've not played FF7R, but I think I understand what you're getting at... not just simply that the baddie wins... More like the hero reacts to an immense up ending fate-of-the-world failure... "What happens next" That it (or close?)

I’ve actually only played a bit myself, but I watched my partner play a significant portion and the moment I’m referencing really impressed me, like ‘WOW they actually went there!’
