A designer once told me that he was "good at story" but "not good at writing." When I pressed for an explanation, he said that writing was just "choosing the right words" and "spelling & grammar." So, editing. But it's a common belief & one reason they bring writers in too latehttps://twitter.com/leighalexander/status/1352186235280875522 …

When they say "good at story", in my experience they usually mean "have had story ideas they're excited about". Which everyone has. People critically underestimate the chops it takes to turn an idea into something that represents what was in your head.

WOW, you’ve delivered an epiphany to me. This is the same energy as people who go to Neil Gaiman or Stephen King and say “I have a great idea for a story, I just need you to write it.” Which is laughable. But in your example, it’s ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

I don't claim to be Neil Gaiman or Stephen King, but apart from that... LITERALLY.
