When they say "good at story", in my experience they usually mean "have had story ideas they're excited about". Which everyone has. People critically underestimate the chops it takes to turn an idea into something that represents what was in your head.

Or a general, overarching premise, but no concept of the little moments that must be accumulated to create it. Or a feeling of coolness taken from elsewhere, but no thought about how it was earned, or how it can be earned again.

WOW, you’ve delivered an epiphany to me. This is the same energy as people who go to Neil Gaiman or Stephen King and say “I have a great idea for a story, I just need you to write it.” Which is laughable. But in your example, it’s ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
