I don't understand why people quote tweet just to say they agree with something. Just retweet it? Or reply, if you feel the need. If you have a valuable contribution, fine, but otherwise all it does is centre the discussion on you and create distance from the content of value.

I think it can possible also help get people to read it. Might be people seeing a tweet from an account they don't recognise might not engage with it as much as a tweet from someone they actively follow?

Sure! I’m more concerned with intention, which is private to the individual. If that’s why then that all sounds great. Not that I have the right to tell anyone why they should or shouldn’t do anything.

I do agree, I think some people will do it to make it more about them and for their own ego. There is a lot wrong in the world, I try to focus on the good :)

A good approach. One I should adhere to more often. Sometimes I see one trait I dislike, whether in me or somebody else, and from that point I see it everywhere. But we all do that, I suppose.

Seeing stuff in yourself is probably equal parts good and bad. Yeah you can work on ironing that out, but also, is it REALLY bad, or are you just being overly harsh on yourself? If only we could press a button and see our good/evil attunement stats! :D

A blessing and a curse, indeed. I’ve known people who refuse to introspect and are worse off for it, but it must be nice not to assume you’re wrong ALL the time. Even if you introspect constantly, you’re not guaranteed to catch everything due to limited perspective.

And of course there’s the matter of assuming your motives are the same.

I tell myself that my harsh self ruling helps stop me being one of those crappy people who defaults to thinking they are awesome all of the time. It would be nice to have the shackles off and just be free, but I don't think I'd be happy afterwards.

This is me, too. It’s not fun, but I see it as my personal responsibility to look long and hard at my own shadow, to be honest about my ugly traits and try to work on them. Better for me, better for others. But can be overdone.

But at least you (we) are aware of it. Self awareness is a good thing! so we're doing good! HUZZAH for us! (thinly veiled excuse for celebration to me :) I'll take em where I can get em :D ) from an outside perspective you are doing great at not being rubbish!
