Seeing stuff in yourself is probably equal parts good and bad. Yeah you can work on ironing that out, but also, is it REALLY bad, or are you just being overly harsh on yourself? If only we could press a button and see our good/evil attunement stats! :D
A blessing and a curse, indeed. I’ve known people who refuse to introspect and are worse off for it, but it must be nice not to assume you’re wrong ALL the time. Even if you introspect constantly, you’re not guaranteed to catch everything due to limited perspective.
And of course there’s the matter of assuming your motives are the same.
I tell myself that my harsh self ruling helps stop me being one of those crappy people who defaults to thinking they are awesome all of the time. It would be nice to have the shackles off and just be free, but I don't think I'd be happy afterwards.
and don't forget the lying awake at night thinking back to 30 years in the past and wondering if you said the right thing that one time to the person who has probably since forgotten you exist...
