MCV 30 Under 30 2021 
Anyone got any tips for being okay with shitty first drafts? I need to break my habit of endless revision, but I'm seemingly incapable of making progress if I hate what I have so far... which I almost always do.

What are you writing in? I write my first drafts in wordpad, which occupies this awkward middle ground between notepad and word. It's basic as hell, no spelling or grammar tools. Allows me to write something bad before I throw it into a google doc or whatever and make it good.
I used to write in Google Docs, but today I've been writing in Scrivener. It has a full-page no-distraction view which only highlights the line I'm currently working on, assumedly so I won't edit previous lines. But there are no previous lines because THIS line won't cooperate.

I'm not sure whether that feature (which is very clever by the way) would help or harm me with first drafts. I think wordpad helps because it's so limited. It doesn't even have pages. There's no hope of making it perfect in wordpad, so I can stop my brain from needing to.

I'm gonna try word pad I just like scrivener because I can format it like a real book and feel like I already achieved everything
