Only reading the title, you know the answer's "yes". Because the correct response is NEVER to get upset, but understand where that opinion comes from and make corrections. Even if the son is wrong (and he isn't), getting upset at him is still an asshole-ish response.
Yeah, honestly it doesn’t surprise me. Aversion to introspection often results in defensiveness when critisized. He doesn’t think about her because he doesn’t do much thinking at all — about his place in the world, about the fact that others exist and his actions affect them.
