I don't know who needs to hear this, but feeling ill due to your menstrual cycle is a valid reason to take leave and look after yourself.

Also, menstrual cycles can be debilitating, which may be a sign that there's a medical issue there like endometriosis, PCOS, or fibroids. Even if there isn't, you shouldn't compare your pain to others or what you "think" you should be able to handle.

Gosh yeah. Mine have been all right recently, but in the past? Both my mum and her twin had endometriosis (my aunt needed a hysterectomy because of it) and guys still have the audacity to tell us we have low pain tolerance for complaining

Oof, endometriosis is awful It's fibroids on my father's side. Grandma had a hysterectomy at 21, and I found that out while recovering from a myomectomy at 21. My dad never brought it up even though he knew I had crippling pain for years. Literally told me on my hospital bed

He's certainly special. I'm glad you're feeling better. A friend of mine has endometriosis, and one thing that she said has greatly improved her life was getting two heating pads. One for her abdomen/lap area and one for her feet/legs when sitting at her desk
