I cite this game primarily for its handling of branching structure. The main storyline is actually very linear up until the end, but the short, branched side quests you do alongside it satisfy that need for meaningful choices.

They’re frequent, so you satisfy the need often. They’re generally short, so you get to the branched ending quicker. They’re also mostly independent of the main narrative, so the branch doesn’t actually change much. But the player feels like they’ve achieved something.
