I'm a depressed piece a shit and i've maybe had some writing ideas but they probably aren't that good. And I'm very bad at just starting so everything just stays in my head. I think writing down my stupid things would just make me scared for some reason hahah

A good practise to get into is writing for yourself, on the promise that nobody else will ever read it, and telling yourself ‘this is just a draft and I know it’s gonna be bad’. Then you’re free.

There’s definitely a sense of ‘if I do the thing then I have to face up to the reality of my own ability, and if it’s bad then I’d rather not know and daydream forever’. But the truth is, it’s practise that improves ability.

You may be great. You may have the potential to be great. And it’s hard when all you read are published works that have been rewritten 10 times by people who’ve been writing professionally for 20 years. And first drafts are first drafts — they’re rarely great, even the pros.

What I’m saying is, it’s worth facing your fear. Pushing through it. Because it’s by Doing The Thing, and doing it lots, that you can become sensational

Okay so that's not my only problem really, I think one of my issues is that I'm very bad at reading books. For instance I've had this Spin-off light novel based on my favorite manga/anime series laying here for over 2 years now and I've still not read through it.

Because I basically only read manga, i'm more interested in writing manga instead. The problem with that is that I'm bad at art. So at most I'd only be able to create an unfinished product. Which isn't very encouraging. Writing a normal story would be weird when I don't read em

Are you interested in getting into them? Because if you are, I make way more headway with audiobooks than I do with hard copies. I can read when I’m walking, when I’m doing the dishes, cleaning, falling asleep. Takes less effort and less free time.
