I was king of Scotland, somehow managed to become emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, then screwed myself by founding the British Empire. Now I am nought but a humble duke. Wild.

I was king of Ireland, the pope asked me to participate in a crusade against Jerusalem. We won and my sister was made queen of Jerusalem. I figured she'd do fine but then she married and converted to Islam. A bit later the pope requested another war against Jerusalem...

I sat that one out but sufficient to say my sister ended up dead in a ditch. Every time I see her in my family tree I wonder how she thought that was a good idea.

Later I allied with the queen of England against the queen of Scotland. At the same time I was romancing her so I could marry her into my family to get her titles because I didn't feel like waging war against her over that much land

We crushed scotland and once she became my soul mate I schemed to have her husband murdered(95%), which was easy thanks to Muzzrafdin my councilor with 20 something intrigue whom I captured earlier in Jerusalem. He needed some convincing but we became good friends.

Then I married the queen, we had a bunch of kids. I died of old age. My son I had with her took over. ThenbI tried to murder some of my half brothers who were in line for the title before me. But my mother found out.

Eventually she died, but I didnt get the title. Then I somehow made my sister queen of England when I tried to help her with a claim on Kent. So then I had to declare war against her and then I became king of England. Too bad I had the biggest uprising ever soon after...

Omg the uprisings are lethal. That was how I went from Emperor to Duke — all my vassals turned against me, and AT THE SAME TIME both France and Germany laid claim to my title AND we were all summoned on a crusade. No levies, no available allies — no chance.

Highlight though was when my first Emperor died and I played as his heir, Queen Alix of Scotland. Everyone hated her and did everything in their power to bring her down, and she spent literally fifty years of her life at war trying to win her father’s title back.

She was so frickin badass. She won eventually, became Empress. I was so happy for her. That war went too and fro for decades and I really didn’t think she would won at times, but my girl stuck it out and reigned supreme.

Agreed! This game really spits out some incredible stories at times. I just wish non-military acquisition of land was easier.

I very much enjoyed being able to just usurp places at the click of a button once I was powerful enough, but yeah, for most of the game I struggled to do so without a war. I wanna try an intrigue character next; I suck at martial and so far prefer diplomacy.
