Question for people with ADHD: Does your ADHD affect how you play games, or the kinds of games you play? If so, how? What do you find accessible vs inaccessible?

I've got pretty heavy hitting ADHD and I've found out I tend to heavily prefer games with set objectives and more "handholding" approach - progression is a big thing in a game's staying factor for me. Games too focused on the creative side get me too easily overwhelmed...
Oh god yes. I'm undiagnosed (but with some pretty glaring tells) but this is me exactly. I use wayfinding accessibility features and such constantly because I can't stand feeling lost. I need to know exactly what I'm doing or I nope out.

And then I feel bad because others are going on about how that's part of the fun, and it's like... I don't find that fun. I find it stressful and overwhelming. If my focus isn't directed, I lose it entirely.

Friends with three story bases, cute glass panels, farms: "Can't believe you're not having fun in Minecraft..." Me having scoured the achievement page 12 times, base is a small symmetric cave on the side of a mountain with 9 chests, a bed and a door: "Yeah idk why either..."

Absolutely same!! I really enjoy the guided approach, "As developers intended" stance most of the time, to the point where in survival games Im always the guy whose "house" is ONLY practical stuff like storage, workbench, story things and thats it lol

Yes! My partner asked why he heard so much beeping while I was playing TLOU2, and it's because I was using the wayfinding feature every other second to point Ellie/Abby in the right direction XD
