In other news, my mum showed me a bunch of teachers' reports about my lack of focus and contrasting hyperactivity growing up, and a lot of these replies are resonating. Thanks all for responding. Maybe... maybe... I should look into this.

i bounce around a lot, hardly finish anything unless i suddenly hyper-focus on something for no reason almost always end up multitasking somehow with twitter or something to fiddle with also playing games on a tv makes it worse; w/ a handheld i focus easier

Oh see open world games give me adhd anxiety. Like. Where do I even start. Will I be able to finish everything? Probs no so why even bother.

been ignoring the hyperactivity & dyslexia for 40 + years, and the SPELD at age 11 report since finding it a decade ago. Do not recommend. (I don’t recommend my approach, that is)

I got good grades and wasn't hyperactive but inability to manage time and lack of attention to detail has been something I have to compensate for my whole life. I just got a diagnosis so hopefully I figure it out

100% attention to detail. I'm fine with creative work because I've learned to self-edit well, but beyond that I am teh typo queen. Things with fiddly important details are my downfall. Explains why I didn't last long planning holiday itineraries at a travel company.

Anything repetitive or both fast-paced and complex. Like if a game is set up so that you have to remember to do XYZQ while having to dodge or deal with a lot of stimulation, my brain gets overwhelmed, and if I have to play over and over to try and figure it out, I'll give up
