Question for people with ADHD: Does your ADHD affect how you play games, or the kinds of games you play? If so, how? What do you find accessible vs inaccessible?
In other news, my mum showed me a bunch of teachers' reports about my lack of focus and contrasting hyperactivity growing up, and a lot of these replies are resonating. Thanks all for responding. Maybe... maybe... I should look into this.
I find it so incredibly hard/boring to only focus on one thing, so every multiplayer game I play I have netflix/YouTube on my second monitor. I also do this with some single player games. Last of us was the most recent one that kept me full captivated. I also take lots of breaks

Primarily Inattentive type ADHD-er here - I get completely absorbed with a game and play for way too long, i.e. I have to preset alarms before playing to make sure that I eat, sleep at the usual times. I sometimes avoid playing games that I think will do this to me
Thanks for this! Do you find there are types of games (or aspects of games) that feel more or less accessible? Things like open world vs more contained environments, having more or fewer things to do, etc?

yes. i find any kind of text based game very difficult to play. so most crpgs and visual novels are out for me.
My adhd makes me lose interest in games very quickly, even my favorite games of all time. Its the reason I havent finished The Witcher 3
Inatentive ADHD here! I generally can't play games that aren't constantly rewarding (e.g. Overwatch) or keep giving me new things to do (e.g. Zelda BOTW). Visual novels or mostly-about-reading games are out of the table unless they don't have unnecessary dialogue.
A note on narrative games. I skip dialogues I think I've read but actually I didn't and most of these games don't have a way to go back to re-read, so in terms of accessibility, that'd be a nice feature!
