to personality - which is way more fluid - we have to consider how much we want to lock a player into a certain aspect of behavior. Esp since dynamic characters are SO fun! A 'nice' moment after playing as a meanie for a long time hits so much harder.

Such exciting and interesting dilemmas! This is the sort of thing I love. I imagine establishing such things at the start would help keep some of the complexity in check — my experience with IF featured lots of volatile moving parts, which could be tricky to handle.
If definitely helps with budget if we’re not talking voice acting and animation!

It definitely is tricky - but that's also why it's so FUN, because the tricky part comes from the complexity which is, well: that's LIFE, babey!!!! Life is complex, so having that degree of complexity as an option for fiction is just - woof. We have the raaaaaange now
Absolutely. There’s a puzzle to IF — designing, implementing and navigating systems successfully gives that same sense of satisfaction. It’s part of why I so much prefer writing variables narratives to linear.
