Trying to workout if something is a me thing or a common, people thing. When something others praise doesn’t feel good to you, do you accept that you didn’t like it or do you convince yourself it’s just a different flavour of good you still need to acquire?

I consider my design instinct: it means there's customers out there I don't understand and can't serve. It's in my best interest to try and understand them better. Bonus: I've ended up liking a lot of things I wouldn't otherwise as a result! :D

Hmm that’s still not quite IT. I can look at something I know I didn’t enjoy and identify where my taste differs and why, and then make deductions about other things other people will like. But I’m uncomfortable disliking things in the first place.

1/ I try to accept it, although it's often not easy (I'm making progress thanks to therapy). Otherwise it would mean that my feelings are invalid, because someone thinks different than me. But my bad feeling can be shaped by a personal experience the other person did not have.

/2 It doesn't matter if it's about art or uncomfortable situations in life. What makes their feeling more valid than mine? Aren't feelings always subjective? I would never tell others that their feeling is wrong, why tell it to myself? But then again, all easier said than done.

No, but I tell myself that "bad" is subjective. I understand that I'm a very judgmental person and that affects me negatively. But, I also know what I like, and I have limited time to consume things. I only consume things that I don't like if it gives me more time with my friends

That being said, I thought Star Trek TOS was pretty campy and stupid until a friend made me watch it, and I realized that I like campy and stupid. Sometimes you learn "bad" is fun. It also introduced me to a lot of history (TOS had a huge impact on civil rights), which I love.
