is this a safe place to admit that i found thor ragnarok equally as boring as the other mcu films
I thought it was just me I’ve watched so many of them thinking ‘this is the one that I’ll love’ and each one without fail elicits the same ‘eh I don’t care’ response which, I understand, is largely considered heresy
i cared about black panther, mostly for reasons to do with its worldbuilding and its willingness to explore why people do things. i feel like in most mcu movies it's just... stuff kinda just happens? and more stuff happens? idk how to explain it
I think for me it’s the whole action/action-adventure genre. It bores me because I don’t care about spectacle. I like it in games, where gameplay can recreate that feeling of BEING badass, but just watching it? Dull AF. No cigar.
I deeply enjoy them and they represent something I've wanted to see on screen since I was literally like six years old But a ton of the complaints about them are super valid and I can't imagine responding to "this isn't for me" with hostility at this point, 12 years into them
I mean I can imagine people DOING it; they do all the time. I just can't imagine being in a headspace where I felt I had to?
It's only considered heresy because a very loud and kinda violent set of fans can't take mild criticism or apathy as a response to these films. I <3 the MCU but I would never want someone to force themselves to try and watch+enjoy these movies if they walk away empty each time.
