In that case, do the opposite. See if any instances still feel right when removed or replaced. Keep only the ones that only work with ellipses.

Wow. Yeah. I'll try that. Thanks :) For a long time, I've felt a need to be careful about them appearing subconsciously/unintentionally out of habit in places they're not essential. It's one of the main factors that prevent me from getting good writing done.

That’s what editing is for :) I have a terrible habit of overusing eye references, so I CTRL+F for them when I’m finished to replace/remove any that are too close together.
