Last one. If someone gives you a compliment, but adds the word ‘generally’, do you then feel good or bad about it? I.e. ‘You’re generally nice’/‘You’re generally skilled’ etc

I don’t know. I’d be inclined to say that healthy = a middle ground. My gut tells me that skewing negative = both necessary for humility and more likely to be true. I often feel a twist of discomfort when someone expresses an ego, but that’s no doubt tall poppy syndrome.

Perhaps! I think I also just interpret healthy confidence as ego. There are things that I have proof I’m very good at, but saying so (inc typing this) feels like I’ve broken a social taboo.
