One thing that always bugs me... when you say ‘generally’, do you usually mean it in the positive, glass-half-full sense of ‘consistently’, or in the glass-half-empty sense of ‘with exceptions’?

It always comes across to me as a deliberate attempt to detract, like... you could have just said ‘you’re awesome’, but you wanted to make sure it wasn’t that definitive

That’s how I perceive it, but I also skew negative with this stuff. I assume people hate me unless they reassure me otherwise/lay on the niceness without prompting. It’s an issue.
