Men interrupt and talk over me all. the. fricking. time. and I'm just -done- with it. Like has served me well, allowing me to better hold my place in a conversation.

I’ve certainly learned to do so now or I don’t get to speak.

So you always get interrupted no matter who you're talking to and have never interrupted someone unless they did it first?

I see you've never heard of figures of speech. It happens a lot. Men interrupt me far, far more often than women do. It happens really often. Everyone interrupts from time to time and I'm no exception, but I make an effort to catch myself, apologise and let the other person go on

No one is making you apologise for interrupting someone, even if men interrupt you more than women why are you still talking to those people? Just ignore them then talk to someone else. My main issue with what your saying is people are going to think men are all bad people Which-

I want to apologise because I find it rude, just as I find it rude when others interrupt me. If I stopped speaking to those who interrupt me, it would mean alienating a lot of people I care about. If I'm close to someone, I call them out.

Nobody sincerely thinks that all men are bad people. There's plenty of research to show that men tend towards a competitive communication style, whereas women on average err towards co-operative. That's just how many people are socialised.

Is that a problem? Is it even the man's fault for wanting mostly competition? And yea there actually is people that think men, specifically white are the most disgusting racist, homophobic, misogynistic people just for existing.

I've never met a single person in my life who felt that way. People complain about behaviours commonly attributed to groups, but they're sweeping statements -- many who say those things have partners, siblings, parents, children, friends who fall into those groups who they love.

That being said, there are extremists on every side, and they should never under any circumstances be considered spokespeople for the whole, in my opinion.

I have also explored in my other comments why I feel the culture of interruption and competitive communication styles is a negative one for shared spaces. I think it's a legacy of male-dominated workspaces where other communication types didn't need to be considered.

And I believe it's a barrier to people with that communication style who would want to join those fields. As mentioned, competitive communication rewards the loudest, most domineering, but not necessarily the person with the best insight.
