I think it can be a vicious circle. They say that confidence masquerades as competence, so often folks are hired based on charisma while more highly skilled but less confident folks are overlooked. That needs to change.
Easier said than done though, when it ultimately comes down to subjective perceptions. As an interim, I tend to advocate for faking confidence, playing the part as if you were an actor playing a role. I have a lot of confidence issues, but this has worked for me.
Is confidence stopping you from applying for roles in the first place?
At this point it's a lack of boldness and portfolio to back up my internal known worth. I spent 4 years constantly learning and developing the ability to learn and be flexible, but all advice I get is that "no one will look at your education" and I don't have pieces to show
