In writing, if every sentence ends with an exclamation mark, the whole thing becomes too much. You have to pare it down, use them strategically. Combat in TW3, played in an easier difficulty, feels like this — a well-positioned exclamation mark before the next sentence.

Whenever I gush about TW3, people tell me "but the combat". I searched for reasons it hadn't bothered me, and have finally arrived at this: I never cared much about that anyway. I came for the story.

This makes TW3 perhaps the only game with relatively prominent combat where I don't feel like I'm suffering through it to get to the next bit, because it's well balanced with the elements I love and satisfying rather than stressful.
