This, everything about this. I've found myself avoiding games more and more in recent years, purely because I don't look forward to the stress involved. Especially in this current climate of 'everything must be have a Soulsborne-like difficulty or you're not a real gamer'

There are so many games with aspects I want to experience, but feel shut out by due to this. I play everything on the lowest possible combat difficulty so that I can share in that experience. When there are no difficulty options, the cost becomes too high. And it's a shame.

I don't think I've ever completed a game without "cheating" - I'm not there to stress, I'm there to destress.

Like, when I say that games don't have to be 'fun' to play, i've had people dismiss it (like i'm the first person to think of it) for no real reason bar I think a lack of imagination or being shifted from a comfortable normality. Seems strange from a design perspective.

Like when I started out, the way I talked about games was from a writing & literature perspective, which p much no one on the team seemed to gel with. When I mentioned how an IP we were working on could do with a small narrative element in the gameplay it was shrugged at.
