So I finished #TheLastofUsPart2 the other day and I think I now understand some of the film criticism. To be clear, I still disagree with the idea that it's "trying to be a film" for the approach to narrative, cutscenes and gameplay. Or at least, I don't think that's bad. Thread.

Finished the game two days ago, and I still think about the narrative decisions and the emotions the game got from me! Do you think if the game was cut down 5-10 hours in gameplay the two perspectives would’ve worked better?

No, I don't think so. It took me a LONG time to get invested in Abby, and ultimately, while I was keen to return to where I'd left off, I needed every moment I had with her for the ending to land. So it's a tricky one.

I'd like to consider ways that the switch might have been more palatable. Abby DLC to the first game does seem the most effective option IMO, but would have been completely unfeasible. Splicing wouldn't be the same. Telegraphing the switch up front? Idk.
