It's worth noting that it's VERY easy and natural to get things wrong if you're A) new to Twitter and/or B) new to the industry. You're excited, you don't know the etiquette. I messed up a whole bunch. What's important is to learn from those mess-ups. Some people, sadly, did not.

When I made this account, I was just beginning my foray into games writing and I knew next to nobody. As Greg says, it was lonely seeing people being so familiar with one another and not receive the same treatment, but that's just the same as anything, like starting a new job.

I was over-eager. I replied to and liked everything that came my way (I still tend towards this because it feels polite), and I was overly fawning with those I looked up to. A few times, I did a super bad job of reading the room. Not fun lessons, but you learn them.

My point is, most of us have done it. Don't beat yourself up about it. But also, don't carry on doing it for 6+ years.

This is great. I'm not breaking into the industry, but I've made these mistakes myself. Looking back a few years on the platform (not necessarily even that far) it feels a LOT like looking at an overly loud toddler version of me jumping about in replies to creators.

It very much feels like looking at my awful cringey baby years (overly fawning, overly joking) and I know I still screw up sometimes. I'm always trying to be better. But to do something you have already had negative feedback on/is insulting/etc I struggle to understand.

Yeahhhh. I cringe when I look back at a lot of my interactions on this hellsite, but y'know.
