Yes! It's SO male gaze-y. Everything's gotta be believable, unless it's at the expense of the women looking attractive and 'presentable'.
It's like... did she get laser or something? Because mine would be growing back within a day.
To me it's the ultimate social control. Denying to show women as how they should be even in a acting environment, where rules are always broken. Actors will be filmed with a beard and a lot of hair on their body but an actress still have to be hairless on legs and arms.
(I mean where rules are broken because in movies or tv show you have every genre, sci fi with monsters and all sort of special effects and surreal places, but nah creativity and realism stops at women's hair
