My favourite piece of advice when writing fight scenes: think about the environment and your available props, considering how they might be utilised in a fight. Set the stage in advance. Chekhov's gun and all that.

I rewatched Indiana Jones recently and was surprised that while he has a Cool Guy image in pop culture/my memory, Indy spends most of the movies comically bumbling through fights and barely scraping by. Imo it's much more exciting than a protag being a cool badass all the time.
