I have no idea what's going on for the first 75% of Sanderson's novels (thanks for that, short attention span), but holy hell, it's worth it for the last 25%.

Specifically his fantasy novels. In Way of Kings, it's (I think) mostly because many of the characters don't have clear objectives for a very long time; I don't know why I'm following them. In Mistborn, it was more because I don't care about heists. But once things kick off...

I had this exact thing with Way of Kings - spent most of the book not really knowing if I liked it and being confused as to why anyone was really doing anything. Got to the end though and then quickly burned through the rest of the currently published Stormlight Archive.

Yes! It's got me quite conflicted! I love his books for how they deliver, but I think they would benefit from a little more direction early on. It took me over a year to finally press on with Mistborn enough to see how good it would get.

True, I've finished the first half of the 1st book of Way Kings thinking: there's a lot of things happening, but also, not so much and I don't know why (it felt heavy on worldbuilding). I've just started the second part of it, so I hope I'll get in the hype train this time!
