I have no idea what's going on for the first 75% of Sanderson's novels (thanks for that, short attention span), but holy hell, it's worth it for the last 25%.
Specifically his fantasy novels. In Way of Kings, it's (I think) mostly because many of the characters don't have clear objectives for a very long time; I don't know why I'm following them. In Mistborn, it was more because I don't care about heists. But once things kick off...
God this is extremely how Mistborn felt for me. Very much felt like giving up, but the end of the book 3 made it SO worth it
YUP. Best ending I've read to a series thus far. I'm just finishing up the first Way of Kings book at the moment and it's much the same story. The exceptions are his sci-fi novels -- those grabbed me from the outset.
I've always seen his books recommended highly but never known which is a good place to start

I am filled with awe and envy. That's what I wanna try to emulate, just... with more direction at the start, haha.
