UPDATE: Not scrapping it, instead changing one small detail which turns this scene into a CLUE that ultimately (hopefully) makes upcoming lore less straightforward I-learned-this-thing-about-the-world and more of a wait-does-this-fit-with-that puzzle and I am PLEASED

god, that reminds me of the time i got somewhere between 20 and 25k into a manuscript before i realized the entire premise was completely implausible it had a happy ending, i was able to rescue the idea, but talk about a roller coaster of emotion
