Its why I started writing in the morning! It completely changed my life.
I so often set my alarm earlier to write, but then I'm exhausted? I end up just sleeping through it. Doesn't help that I drink too much coffee and fall asleep super late. Managed it for a while with copying out books for writing practice, but that didn't take much brain energy.

I do still get writing done each evening, but it always feels like such a hurdle to get myself to do it.

If that hurdle is managable for you then it sounds like your process is working. I fought with that hurdle for 7 agonizing months, losing most days before I started to get up in the morning instead. And then my partner proceeded to show me the value of a consistent bedtime
