Growing up, I associated 'woman' with warriors like Eowyn and Joan of Arc (dad's influence), and the first time someone called me a woman, I felt so proud, even though they meant it insultingly. So I'm curious — who did you think of when you heard the word 'woman' as a kid?

Sadly same for a lot of people. But growth is what matters, and it sounds like that doesn't influence you anymore :)
If it helps, the area where I grew up and my social circles in school weren't great either. I had a painful learning curve when I got to university.
